Position:  Librarian - Jr/Sr High School (Part Time)

Responsibilities:

The Librarian provides instruction to students in the activity of imparting knowledge, including the use of libraries and research skills at appropriate grade levels.  The Librarian manages all aspects of the school library, interprets the school’s media programs to students, teachers, administrators, and the community, and provides and maintains media services to augment the school’s instructional programs.

The Librarian develops and maintains a collection of materials, both physical and electronic, that will support and enrich curriculum goals and leisure interests, working closely with staff and students to develop research and study skills that contribute to lifelong learning. In addition, the Librarian manages the circulation desk, collection development, cataloging, and the library management system. The Librarian provides a welcoming and helpful presence that encourages partnerships as a teacher, instructional planning partner, collaborator, and literacy advocate.

Must pass a background check and be willing to sign the PCS Statement of Faith, and Declaration of Moral Integrity. 

Work Week and Hours:

25 - 28 hours per week, between the hours of 7:30am - 4:30 pm

Contract Term:

2019-20 Academic year

Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Education required; Master's degree with Library Science concentration preferred.
License Requirements:  Oregon or other state teaching license required.  Library science endorsement preferred.  

Certification:  ACSI temporary certificate required within 30 days of hire.  

Work Experience:  1 - 3 years experience as a Librarian, or as an English teacher with emphasis on research, composition, and literature, required.  3+ years Librarian and Teaching experience, preferred.
